What is TMS?

TMS is a non-invasive medical treatment for depression & other neuropsychiatric disorders without medication. TMS is an FDA approved treatment for depression & smoking cessation. TMS treatment includes a series of treatments where the number of treatments the patient will receive will depend on his condition and the medical judgment of the psychiatrist.

TMS can be used in many diseases according to scientific studies:

  • Depression
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Stop smoking
  • Cocaine / Amphetamine Addiction
  • Alcohol addiction
  • Eating Disorders & weight loss
  • Adhd
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Tinnitus

TMS is a safe, certified, pain-free method with minimal or no side effects. The most common side effect reported is mild headaches, which result from irritation of the superficial muscular system of the head. This phenomenon is temporary and subsides after the first sessions.

During TMS treatment, the patient lies comfortably in the doctor’s bed. Doesn’t receive anesthesia or any other medicine. After the session the patient can immediately return to his/her usual activities. Treatment does not affect alertness or cognitive functions.

    F.A.Q

    How does TMS work?

TMS has been shown to bring about changes in the neuronal activity of areas of the brain involved in mood regulation, such as the prefrontal cortex. Each magnetic pulse, which passes through the skull and brain, induces a brief activity of the brain cells located at the point where the treatment coil touches the head.

    What happens during a session?

The patient sits in a specially designed treatment chair, similar to that used in a dentist’s office. Because TMS uses magnetic pulses, patients are asked to remove any magnetically sensitive objects they carry before starting treatment.

    What is its effectiveness?

According to the results of research by the largest and most authoritative research centers in the world, as well as the data from the clinical application of the treatment so far, TMS has a long-term effect on brain functions and more specifically the rates of significant reduction of major depression symptoms reach 55 % and their elimination to 35%. However, there are cases where the above percentages are higher, as it is an individualized method of treatment.
